Magdy K. Kotb is truly a scholar when it comes to men’s clothing. Grandson to a Master Tailor who owned fields of premium Egyptian cotton, he was raised in a family owned men’s clothing business founded by his father Samy Kotb- “Milano Square” (EST. 1995). The first location was in San Bruno, CA and as a kid Magdy spent many summers, nights and weekends cleaning the store, greeting clients, sorting fixtures and merchandise and eventually maturing his way to the sales floor. His father made no special accommodations or treatment, wanting him to understand the business from the ground up. Years went by as Magdy soaked up the knowledge all around him as they opened new locations, traveled to fashion trade shows, studying trends and industry marketing, and above all -creating lasting relationships and memorable experiences with clients.
Wanting to make a name for himself, by 18 Magdy sprung out on his own and began working as a sales associate for a High-End Nationwide Men’s clothing brand. By the age of 21 he was able to work his way to GM of a million dollar location in San Mateo, CA and looked upon to help grow struggling branches. While taking the business to new heights, he went along to qualify for the companies prestigious President’s club; consisting of less than 125 members out of 7,000+ associates nationwide. Taking it personally he vigorously studied how clothing is constructed, fabrics spun, trends created, even body language and the non-verbal cues of clothing and presentation. After 6 years, he was then recruited by another High-End Men’s clothing retailer, rounding out a decade spent in corporate retail by 2017 as GM and corporate trainer for even higher volume establishments.
The Clothing Coach service and private label clothing was established in 2016. The brand was started by working out of hourly office rentals, traveling tailors and in-home visits, launching a private club and 1st studio location in 2018 in Union Square; San Francisco’s premier shopping district.
Over the span of his career, Magdy has worked with top company execs. celebrities and athletes from Shaquille O’Neal, to former major league pros and TV commentators like Dennis Brown and Bill Laskey. From politicians like CA State Senator Jerry Hill to Ambassador from the Philippines to Japan Manuel Lopez, among many others.
